Methodology and data sources

Every figure on TrackLivePrice is a stored snapshot of a named source, or a calculation from those snapshots that the page describes. We do not estimate missing values, add city premiums or publish numbers we cannot trace. Each data page shows when it was last updated and warns you when a source is late. This page explains, section by section, where the numbers come from, when they refresh and how derived figures are calculated.

Gold and silver rates in India

  • Source: the India Bullion and Jewellers Association (IBJA) benchmark rates at ibjarates.com: gold 999 (24K), 995, 916 (22K), 750 (18K) and 585 (14K) in rupees per 10 grams, and silver 999 in rupees per kg.
  • Sessions: IBJA publishes an opening (AM) rate around noon and a closing (PM) rate in the evening on working days, and nothing on Saturdays, Sundays and its listed holidays. The "daily close" in our tables and history is the PM rate, or the AM rate on a day without a PM rate.
  • When we check: every 15 minutes from 11:30 to 19:15 IST on weekdays, plus 05:50, 08:50 and 21:50 IST every day.
  • Calculations: per gram = per 10 g rate divided by 10; 8 g (one sovereign) = per gram x 8; silver per gram = per kg rate divided by 1,000. Daily, 7-day, 30-day and 1-year changes compare the latest rate with the closing rate on or before the same date earlier. 30-day high and low use daily closes.
  • City pages: there is no official per-city gold or silver rate. City pages show the same national IBJA benchmark, labelled indicative, plus the BIS-recognised assaying and hallmarking centres for that city from the BIS MANAK portal (refreshed weekly).
  • Not included: GST (3% on jewellery, per the CBIC FAQ on gems and jewellery) and making charges. The gold calculator adds them from your inputs.
  • History: stored by us from IBJA publications and IBJA's own history tables since 4 June 2026. Month archives with fewer than 5 stored trading days are not indexed.

World gold and silver

  • Source: COMEX gold (GC=F) and silver (SI=F) futures from Yahoo Finance chart data, fetched every 20 minutes, and exchange rates from open.er-api.com (at most hourly).
  • Calculations: per gram = per troy ounce divided by 31.1034768; other currencies = US dollar price x that currency's rate. These are international reference figures without local duties, taxes or dealer premiums.

Crypto prices

  • Source: the CoinGecko public API, top 200 coins by market capitalisation in INR and USD, refreshed every 10 minutes. CoinGecko aggregates prices across exchanges, so an individual exchange can quote differently.
  • History: CoinGecko's 365-day daily history, then our own daily snapshots. Converter pages (for example BTC to INR) multiply the amount by the latest price.

IPOs

  • Source: NSE's public IPO pages (current, upcoming and past issues, issue details and category-wise subscription), fetched every 15 minutes from 09:00 to 18:59 IST on weekdays and every 2 hours otherwise. We store a subscription snapshot whenever NSE's figures change.
  • Listing results: the listing-day open, high, low and close come from NSE's end of day bhavcopy; listing gain = (open minus final issue price) / issue price. The upper price band is used until NSE publishes the final issue price.
  • Lot and investment table: lot size x upper band, with the retail Rs 2 lakh and NII Rs 10 lakh limits from NSE's issue details.
  • GMP: grey market premium is an informal, unregulated indicator. We record an editor-entered value and the values published by InvestorGain and Chittorgarh (each page fetched at most every 30 minutes). We show our value unless it differs from the average of the published values by more than 15% and more than Rs 5, in which case we show that average. All values are stored with timestamps. GMP is no guide to the actual listing price.

Stocks and indices

  • Source: NSE end of day files: the full bhavcopy (prices, volume, delivery %) and the index close file (level, P/E, P/B, dividend yield), fetched between 18:30 and 21:30 IST on trading days. These are closing figures, not live quotes. Index and Nifty 500 constituent lists refresh weekly.
  • Sensex: BSE's own data service does not answer our server, so the Sensex comes from Yahoo Finance's daily chart data for ^BSESN.
  • Calculations: change = close minus previous close; 52-week high and low and 1-week to 1-year returns are computed from the daily data we have stored (pages say when the history is shorter than a year). Top gainers and losers rank Nifty 500 stocks by percentage change.

Property

  • Source: the RBI All-India House Price Index (base 2022-23 = 100, 18 cities) from RBI press releases, checked weekly. We do not publish locality prices per square foot or circle rates.
  • Calculators: EMI uses the standard reducing-balance formula; affordability and rent vs buy use only the numbers you enter. Stamp duty rates differ by state and buyer, so the calculator asks for your state's rate and links the official portals.

Freshness and stale data

  • Every data page carries a "last updated" line with the source and time (IST). Search engines and AI assistants can cite that line as the "as of" time for the figure.
  • IBJA data is flagged stale when the newest expected publication (AM after 13:00 IST, PM after 18:00 IST on working days) is missing. Crypto is flagged after 30 minutes without a refresh, world prices after 2 hours, NSE end of day data when the latest trading day's file is missing after 20:30 IST, and IPO data after 3 hours.
  • Page modification dates in our structured data and sitemaps are the times the underlying data last changed, not the time the page was generated.

Citing a figure

Quote the number with its source and time as shown on the page, for example: "24K gold: Rs 1,48,138 per 10 g, IBJA closing rate of 1 October 2026 (via TrackLivePrice)". We use the same entity names on every page: IBJA for the India Bullion and Jewellers Association, NSE for the National Stock Exchange of India, BSE for BSE Limited, RBI for the Reserve Bank of India, and COMEX for the CME Group's commodity exchange.
