How it works
The converter multiplies your amount by the reference rate for one Singapore dollar. We take the rates from a free exchange rate feed that publishes mid-market rates against the US dollar once a day, and work out the rupee rate as a cross through the dollar.
It is useful for people working or studying in Singapore. The rate you actually get from a bank, card or remittance service is lower when you sell SGD and higher when you buy, because the provider adds a margin and sometimes a fee.
Formula
Rupees = amount in SGD x rupees per SGD; SGD = rupees / rupees per SGD
- Mid-market means halfway between buying and selling rates. Compare it with the rate your provider quotes to see the margin you pay.
- Rates change every day, so convert again before a transfer.
