How it works
The calculator reverses the SIP formula: it starts from the amount you want and solves for the monthly instalment. A higher assumed return lowers the instalment, so the table shows what you would need at several rates.
Formula
Monthly SIP = FV x i / (((1 + i)^n - 1) x (1 + i))
- Inflation raises the cost of most goals; the inflation calculator shows what today's cost becomes in future.
Frequently asked questions
How much SIP do I need for a target?
Enter the target, the years and an assumed return; the result is the monthly amount that grows to the target at that rate.
What if returns are lower than assumed?
You would fall short. Check the table for the SIP needed at lower rates.
Does it account for inflation?
No. Increase the target by expected inflation first, using the inflation calculator.
