How it works
A systematic withdrawal plan takes a fixed amount out every month while the rest stays invested. The calculator credits a month of growth and then deducts the withdrawal, month after month, and reports when the balance would run out.
Formula
Each month: balance = balance x (1 + r/12) - withdrawal
- Withdrawals from mutual funds may be taxed as capital gains; this calculator ignores tax.
Frequently asked questions
How long will my money last with an SWP?
Enter the corpus, monthly withdrawal and an assumed return; the result shows when the balance would reach zero, if within the period.
What is a safe withdrawal amount?
There is no single safe figure. Lower withdrawals and lower assumed returns give a more cautious picture.
Does the SWP calculator include inflation?
No. Withdrawals stay fixed; raise the amount yourself to test rising expenses.
